Academic Staff > Academic Staff > Paulo Andrés Tirao
Prof. Paulo Tirao's main research interest is Lie theory, an extremely important and widely used theory in mathematics. This theory provides a powerful framework for describing symmetries and continuous transformations, and has a wide range of applications in many scientific fields, including quantum mechanics, particle physics, crystallography, and robotics. He received his Ph.D. in mathematics from the University of Cordoba in 1996, and then went to the International Abdus Salam Center for Theoretical Physics (ICTP) in Italy as a postdoctoral researcher and Germany as a Humboldt Foundation researcher. He is currently a full-time professor at the National University of Cordoba, Argentina. In 2020, he joined the Mathematics with Computer Science Department of Guangdong Technion - Israel Institute of Technology as a visiting professor and coordinator.
