At 9:22 on 24th?August, an?alarm went off in Student Dorm B of GTIIT. Students escaped quickly down stairs, and then gathered in the clear area. This is a fire drill for the new students of GTIIT. In the practice, they also learned to use fire equipment, and improved their safety awareness and self-rescue ability.
Firefighters introduced the?way to use the fire extinguisher.?He then set up a fire and invited students to learn through practice.
It is the first time for ZHANG Zijin, a Biotechnology and Food Engineering?student to use fire extinguisher. "Not as heavy as I thought. It's easy to remember the steps, and I believe I can extinguish the flames quickly and correctly when needed." She said.
When the students were learning to use a fire extinguisher, an inflatable "red house" appeared nearby. It stimulated the dark and smoky condition when there was a fire, to train students'?survival skills. With wet towels to prevent choking smoke, students entered the house one by one.?
5?mins later, the first student escaped successfully. ZHANG Jiayi, one of the participant, said it was difficult to escape and she felt so afraid. By following others with a flashlight, she finally escaped.
Through this fire safety education, students enhanced their fire protection knowledge and escape skills, especially in the dark.
