Invited by Shantou Government, a delegation from Khabarovsk Municipality of the Russian Federation visited Shantou recently to sign a memorandum of friendship and exchanges between the two cities. Led by Mr. Aleksandrov Alexander Nikolaevich, Vice Mayor of Khabarovsk, the delegation visited GTIIT on Mar. 23 and expressed their hope of enhancing mutual exchanges and laying foundations for future cooperation.
Vice Mayors of Khabarovsk, Mr. Kazachenko Sergey Nikolaevich and Ms. Ten Olga Yakovlevna also joined the visit. Mr. Yigal Cohen, Pro-Vice Chancellor and Director General of GTIIT, and Prof. Lin Danming, Pro-Vice Chancellor introduced the overall situation of GTIIT.
With a population of about 1.2 million (updated 2015), Khabarovsk is the largest city in the Far Eastern Federal District of Russia, and also the fifth largest city in Russia. Located in the east side of the junction of Heilongjiang River with Wusuli River, Khabarovsk is the pivotal center of aviation, waterway and railway transportations.
The guests said that Khabarovsk is well-known as a large industrial center and has a number of higher education institutions. GTIIT strives to cultivate pioneering researchers and scientists. There are many opportunities for both sides to enhance mutual exchanges, strengthen scientific research cooperation, and jointly cultivate talents.?
