A blood donation was jointly conducted on Jan. 5, 2019 by GTIIT Youth Volunteer Association（YVA）, Shantou Blood Center and Red Cross Society of China Shantou Branch.
Dr. Xiao Zebin from Shantou Blood Center was invited to introduce blood donation to students before the activity was conducted. 75 GTIITers, accounting for more than 11% of the GTIIT family, donated their blood. Xu Xuqiang, a sophomore of Biotechnology?and?Food?Engineering was the first blood donor. Jamie, faculty of GTIIT, also joined in it. The total blood volume was 21,500cc, among which 23 blood donors chose to donate 400cc. Besides, 23 GTIITers also provided additional blood samples which will be enrolled into ?the China Marrow Donor Program(CMDP) to help patients with leukemia and other life-threatening diseases.
GTIIT is a young university. All GTIITers are willingly to serve the society. "It's really great that 75 GTIITers strive for the development of this city, " said You Haoxuan, one of the organizers.
