On Oct. 24, Chancellor Li Jian'ge visited Shantou No.1 High School and delivered a speech themed with "Hardship Breeds Brilliance – A Brief Discussion on the Jewish Culture" to 450 students.

Started from an overview of Jewish history, Chancellor Li focused on the hardship and glory of Jewish civilization, and made further comparison between Chinese and Jewish culture. Chancellor Li explained that the Jews attach great importance to heuristic education and the cultivation of critical thinking. "This is also one of the key reasons why the Jewish people are famous for their 'creativity' and this model of education is worthy of China's reference."

Chancellor Li encouraged the students to be more "Chutzpah", be courageous enough to challenge the authority and think outside the box. He also taught the students to face difficulties bravely, to constantly think and question, to innovate, and fight for their dreams.

Chancellor Li ?awarded Shantou No.1 High School the plaque of "Base of Excellent Students"
October 24, 2018 also marks the 114th anniversary of Shantou No.1 High School. On behalf of GTIIT, Chancellor Li entended his best regards and wished her a brighter future.
