ShanghaiRanking Consultancy officially released the 2018 Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) today, ranking the world Top 500 research universities. 51 universities from mainland China are on the list, and Israel Institute of Technology ranked 77th,up 16 places from last year.

ShanghaiRanking's Academic Ranking of World Universities(ARWU) was first released in 2003 by Shanghai Jiaotong University's world-class research center, which is the world's first comprehensive global university ranking. ARWU is one of the most influential and authoritative university rankings in the world and has been widely reported and quoted. Many governments and universities have adopted ARWU as the standard to formulate strategic goals and development plans, and take various measures to enhance the international competitiveness of the university.
GTIIT is the first Chinese-foreign institute with independent legal person qualification to introduce excellent higher education resources from Israel in China. Collaborated by the Technion and STU, GTIIT is?devoted to develop engineers and technological talents with innovation, global insight, and humanistic quality, with an aim to become a world-recognized high-level research-based institute in education, scientific research, and innovation.?GTIIT's faculty members are recruited globally, including 60% from the Technion.?
Recently, GTIIT is actively responding to the call of Guangdong Province to build a top university and Shantou intends to invest heavily on the establishment of an advanced provincial laboratory for chemical manufacturing by relying on GTIIT. GTIIT will develop to become an important base for education and scientific research in eastern Guangdong, Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area, and South China.
