Delegation from China National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA), led by its second-level inspector Yan Jie, recently visited Guangdong Technion – Israel Institute of Technology (GTIIT) to conduct a research survey on GTIIT's Intellectual Property (IP). The delegation was warmly welcomed by Moris S. Eisen, Pro-Vice Chancellor of GTIIT. GTEC director Michael Lv; Prof. Zhong Ziyi, Deputy Head of Chemical Engineering (CE) Program at GTIIT; and CE Assoc. Profs. He Xuezhong, Gao Xi, Kong Bo, Xu Peng, Wang Yan etc. attended the meeting.

Prof. Moris S. Eisen expressed his heartfelt gratitude for the attention and guidance provided by CNIPA. He emphasized that GTIIT upholds the IP management philosophy of the Technion, attaching great importance to IP protection. GTIIT has established an internal review committee for patent applications, rigorously controlling the quality of submitted patents, and actively pursuing the concept of high-quality origination leading to high-quality conversions, thereby facilitating the transformation of technological innovations into new quality productive forces.

Yan Jie commended GTIIT's efforts in high-quality IP creation, protection, management, and utilization. She noted that CNIPA has observed numerous high-quality patent submissions from GTIIT during its routine patent examination process, reflecting GTIIT’s proactive exploration at the forefront of science and technology. Yan Jie expressed her hope that through this visit, she and her team could further introduce the legal concepts of IP protection in China, as well as the key points and common pitfalls in patent applications, to GTIIT's faculties and students. They also showed high interest in GTIIT scientific research dynamics and current IP protection status, particularly in the field related to chemical engineering materials.

During the lecture, the patent examiner group conducted in-depth communications with faculties and students of GTIIT on application document writing, review opinions, international patent applications, and protection of high-quality patents. Following the symposium, Yan Jie and her team toured Assoc. Prof. He Xuezhong’s Advanced Membrane Separation Technology Laboratory, and wished GTIIT can achieve more and more high-quality research and patents in the future.
