On April 11, the 2024 "City-University Collaboration Empowers Tomorrow's Innovators Event" in Shantou and the "Changzhou Talent Program Competition in Greater Bay Area" were held in Guangdong Technion – Israel Institute of Technology (GTIIT). GTIIT further deepened collaboration with Changzhou city and China-Israel Changzhou Innovation Park (CICP), establishing a communication platform for Changzhou city and Shantou city in talent cultivation and industry collaboration.

Leaders and guests attending the ceremony included Distinguished Professor Dan Shechtman of the Technion - Israel Institute of Technology, the 2011 Nobel Prize winner in chemistry; Prof. Gong Xingao, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Chancellor of GTIIT; Chen Xiang, Member of CPC Changzhou Standing Committee, Director General of the Organization Department of Changzhou city.

Professor Dan Shechtman delivered a speech at the event

In his speech, Chen Xiang said that the GTIIT Changzhou Innovation Institute focusing on three major fields of new energy, big health and smart manufacturing, has integrated GTIIT's innovation resources and Changzhou's industrial advantages to build an international high-level R&D team. He pointed out that the institute would help promote technology development and business incubation, as well as deepen integration of innovation resources.

As a Sino-foreign cooperative university focusing on science and engineering in China, GTIIT plays a key role in establishing the knowledge triangle of education, innovation and research. Chancellor Gong said that the event marked an important milestone for the university to further deepen cooperation with Changzhou and CICP. It effectively highlighted the "three fusion" towards a win-win future, namely, the innovation ecology integration, industry-technology integration, and education-talent integration.

At the site, Changzhou city and GTIIT jointly unveiled the plaque of the talent introduction station and signed the first batch seed projects of GTIIT Changzhou Innovation Institute. Wujin District of Changzhou city appointed six talent introduction partners.

After the ceremony, GTIIT's faculty team members and students participated in a roadshow with their projects in biotechnology, big health and new energy, to compete with other innovative projects from the Greater Bay Area.
The first council meeting of GTIIT Changzhou Innovation Institute was also held during the event, to discuss the construction of the institute, research platform establishment and project planning, etc.
