Prof. Gong Xingao, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Chancellor of Guangdong Technion - Israel Institute of Technology (GTIIT) and Dr. Queena Yi, Pro-Vice Chancellor of GTIIT attended the signing ceremony of the Strategic Cooperation Agreement between Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech), GTIIT and Shantou University (STU) in Shenzhen on the afternoon of March 22.
The signing ceremony was held in the conference room of the SUSTech Administrative Building. Secretary of the Party Committee of SUSTech, Prof. Jiang Hong who presided over the ceremony, introduced the background of the cooperation between the three universities and the basic information of the signing of the Agreement. Leaders present at the ceremony also included STU President Hao Zhifeng, SUSTech President Xue Qikun, Acting Vice President Jia Jinfeng. President Xue Qikun said in his welcome speech that the three universities had shown strong momentum for vigorous development. The signing of the Agreement marked that the three universities entered a new stage of all-round exchanges and cooperation. He hoped that base for China's major strategies and in accordance with the requirements of developing new productive forces, the three universities would gather more strength by developing scientific and technological innovation, as a way to make greater contributions to achieving the high-level scientific and technological development of China.
Chancellor Xingao Gong extended his great thanks to SUSTech for its continued support to GTIIT. He said that the two universities have carried out in-depth cooperation in the fields of quantum technology, nanotechnology and joint training of graduate students. He hoped that both parties would continue to deepen international scientific research cooperation, give full play to the important role of major scientific platforms in promoting discipline construction, talent cultivation, and scientific research, jointly creating a new model for inter-university cooperation.
Witnessed by Prof. Hao Zhifeng, Prof. Gong Xingao, Prof. Jiang Hong and Prof. Xue Qikun, Dr. Queena Yi and Prof. Jia Jinfeng signed the Strategic Cooperation Agreement on behalf of the two universities.
GTIIT and SUSTech, both being dynamic research universities in Guangdong Province, would jointly explore the construction of modern university governance system with Chinese characteristics, carry out cooperation in key discipline construction, international scientific research cooperation and graduate cultivation, thus providing wisdom for the development of new productive forces and the cultivation of innovative scientists and researchers with global vision.
