Fang Lixu, Secretary of the CPC Shantou Municipal Committee, visited STU and GTIIT with relevant municipal departments last Friday. After having a full picture of the two universities, Fang proposed his envision and suggestions for future development. Fang stressed, Shantou Party Committee and Shantou Government will give STU and GTIIT full support for development so that the two universities can become world-leading universities and bolster the innovative and high-quality advancement in Shantou.
Fang visited GTIIT North Campus, STU library, STU Human Life Science Museum, STU Students' Innovation Park, etc. Jiang Hong, President of STU, and Lin Danming, the designate Pro-Vice Chancellor of GTIIT briefly introduced STU and GTIIT respectively on the panel discussion. Technological, mechanical and managerial innovation is the key to high-quality development, Fang remarked, therefore, STU and GTIIT, the two glaring business cards for Shantou, are strategically important to the long-term advancement in Shantou. Fang said, we were proud of boasting the talent pools of STU and GTIIT. Hopefully, STU and GTIIT will continue to be devoted in reform and innovation, accelerating the innovation development in Shantou with talents, research results and innovation. Shantou Party Committee and Shantou Government would give STU and GTIIT full support for development as they always do, say, sparing no efforts to remove obstacles for STU and GTIIT. Mutually, Shantou will go through mechanical innovation and build up cooperation and communication platforms to strengthen the connection between the city and the two universities.
Government officials Qiu Yihui, Lin Yimin and Huang Heng, leaders from STU, including Gu Peihua, Luo Nianchao, Wen Xiaobo and Wulan Hasi also took part in the activity.
