A welcome dinner was co-hosted by Shantou Government and GTIIT to welcome Chinese and Israeli guests attending the "Series Activities of Sino-Israel Education and Technology Cooperation"

Mr. Zhang Jiange, the Mayor of Shantou representing Shantou Municipal Party Committee and Shantou Government, delivered a brief welcoming speech. He pointed out, the successful enrollment of GTIIT has profound meaning for fueling the cultivation of cutting-edge talents, the scientific researching and innovative capability of Shantou, Guangdong and even China, and the copperation and exchanges between China and Israel. Shantou Municipal Party Committee and Shantou Government will attach great importance on the development of GTIIT as usual.
Mr. Richard Li, representing Li Ka Shing Foundation, said, “I must admit that my father has always reminded me that there's no limit to the quest for knowledge, and his unwavering support for the higher education and research to better mankind is a testament to this belief." He added, "I consider it my privilege to support the continuation of the Foundation in Shantou."
As a witness of GTIIT's birth and growth, Prof. Peretz Lavie, the President of Tehchnion said the materialization of GTIIT cannot be possible without the contribution of Mr. Li Ka-Shing. Chinese and Jewish shares a lot in common, he hoped that both parties can take converted efforts to make the world better.
About 200 guests from all over the world attended the welcome dinner last night.
