Recently, the Youth League Committee of Guangdong Technion-Israel Institute of Technology (GTIIT) and the Youth League Committee of College of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, Shantou University, led students to Haiping Community, Shantou Small Park to join in a class and learn the history of the Communist Party of China (CPC) in an immersive way as a practice of the “Qingma Project”. The event combined theoretical learning and practice with nearly 70 participants.

Shantou Small Park used to be a prosperous commercial center in the 1930s. Its unique architectural style and business atmosphere demonstrates the humanistic history of Shantou as the “hundred-year commercial port”. Led by Xie Zetao, secretary of the Party Branch of Small Park Volunteers Association, the class began.

Throughout history, the Communist Youth League of China inspired young people with advanced ideas and courageous spirits, which made the students further understand the responsibilities of being young.

The participants walked to the former site of the Central Red Traffic Line at 97 Haiping Road (Shantou Station). The exhibition hall is a three-story arcade building with displayed historical materials of war inside, allowing the students to enhance understanding of the hardships experienced by previous generations.

Through the bustling downtown area, the teachers and students visited Zheng Zhengqiu and Cai Chusheng Film Museum, where they gained a further understanding of film art and Chinese film history.

The event helped the students to deeply understand the significance of the core socialist value system and the direction for becoming a qualified member of CPC. GTIIT will continue to guide the students to integrate their dream into the future of our country and fight for it.
