Recently, the final of the debate competition for the 2023 cohort of Guangdong Technion - Israel Institute of Technology (GTIIT) was held at the South Campus. 2 teams stood out from 8 competing teams and reached the final through the preliminary and semi-finals, focusing on the topic "personal needs/social needs are more important for university students in career selection".
The first debaters from both sides made their opening statements first, and then entered the rebutment session. The debaters expressed their own opinions with incisive arguments and rebuttals. The atmosphere climaxed with the free debate session. The debaters listed evidence to prove their views and made witty remarks to refute opponent's views.
After the final focus, the judges commented on the wonderful performance of the contestants. In the end, Yue Zhang, Gao Jia, Chen Haowu and Liang Zhifeng from the pro side won the championship.
The thought-provoking topics in the debate competition provided a practical platform for GTIIT students to enhance their logical thinking and expression ability. They experienced the charm of debating by expressing themselves and exchanging ideas through current hot topics.
