Li Jiange, Chancellor of Guangdong Technion Israel Institute of Technology, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Sun Yefang Foundation and Vice Chairman of Central Huijin Investment Co., Ltd. is hired as the director of the newly-established Global Finance and Economic Development Research Institute, a branch of Institute of Global Development, Tsinghua University. Li will take the lead to form a first-tier scientist group and pool leading international technical resources to make the institute into a world-class finance think tank.

With an international expert committee which would soon be formed, Global Finance and Economic Development Research Institute aims to do research on overall, strategic and foreseeable major issues on global development, including reforms of Chinese finance institutes, prevention of financial risks, formation and improvement of finance industry, researches on leading financial technologies, in-depth researches on financial impact of "Belt and Road" initiative, researches and prevention on global financial crisis and asset bubbles, as well as financial impact and trends of international cutting-edge technology like artificial intelligence, cloud computing, blockchain and big data. ?

On his speech, Li Jiange said, researches done by Global Finance and Economic Development Research Institute will fully consider the relationships between national issues and international ones, between finance and technology, between market and policies, and the connection among the past, present and future. ???
As one of the Sino-Israeli collaborative project at the era of globalization, GTIIT is devoted to becoming a world-class international university campus which undertakes cutting-edge research in the fields of science and technology. This research will boost entrepreneurship and technology transfer, and foster a high-tech industrial ecosystem in Shantou and Guangdong Province.
