On May 27, the "Medicine +" interdisciplinary seminar, jointly hosted by Guangdong Technion - Israel Institute of Technology (GTIIT) and Fudan University, was successfully held at GTIIT. Experts from Fudan University, Tongji University, Zhongshan Hospital Affiliated to Fudan University, as well as GTIIT professors, research managers and students attended.
GTIIT PVC Lin Danming delivered a welcome speech and introduced the university. GTIIT scholars from the Chemical Engineering, Biotechnology and Food Engineering, Physics, and Materials Science and Engineering programs respectively introduced their research directions and work.

Participants conducted in-depth discussions around interdisciplinary topics in "Medicine +".
Director Cai Mingyan and Doctor Wang Wenshuo from Zhongshan Hospital respectively introduced the actual needs of optical, microbiology, life science, and computer science disciplines in the clinical front line to the attending experts. In response, experts also introduced their research expertise and possible application scenarios in clinical settings.

Participants agreed that the development of interdisciplinary subjects requires clinical needs as the driving force and should avoid working in isolation. At the same time, it is closely related to the cultivation of interdisciplinary talents. Prof. Ji Minbiao of Fudan University detailed the experience and thinking regarding the construction of the Medical Physics program at Fudan University at the seminar. Both sides had sufficient discussions on various aspects of curriculum construction, English-medium teaching experience, and hierarchical teaching attempts.

GTIIT student asking questions
GTIIT students attending also consulted with experts on how to choose research fields and mentors in the future. Experts answered their questions one by one, which benefited the students a lot.
After the seminar, participants visited GTIIT’s international and high-level laboratory.

The "Medicine +" interdisciplinary seminar has built a platform for the follow-up cooperation between GTIIT and Fudan University. It also provided GTIIT students with the opportunity to communicate face-to-face with high-level experts.
