Yesterday, the Speech Contest of the Campus Environmental Protection Cultural Festival supported by ZIM South China & Hong Kong was successfully held in Guangdong Technion - Israel Institute of Technology (GTIIT), attracting students' active participation.

Prof. Lin Danming, Pro-Vice Chancellor of GTIIT gave an opening speech. “At present, environmental issue remains intricate and challenging. History is moving forward and the world will not go back to what it was in the past. Every choice and move we make today will shape the world of the future,” Prof. Lin stressed. He also pointed out that GTIIT adheres to its original vision – focusing on the environment, energy, human health and other key fields and basic disciplines in social and economic development, to cultivate high-level STEM talents and carry on scientific research. “I sincerely hope that you can seize opportunities and ride the momentum to create a better world for all!” Prof. Lin added.
Varenyam Achal, Professor of GTIIT Environmental Science and Engineering Research Group; Deputy Dean of Undergraduate Studies Gave a Speech
With the theme "How to protect the Environment?", participants expressed their opinions based on their personal experience and professional knowledge. Starting from observations about garbage classification, battery recycling, plastics on the beach and other problems encountered in daily life, the students talked about the goals of Carbon Peak and Carbon Neutrality in China, explored the application of innovative bioplastics, and shared the plastic art works used in fashion and furniture. With sincere and fluent expression, students showed their original ideas on environmental protection issues.

Students' Excellent Performance
Judges from different GTIIT programs gave a high recognition to the excellent performance of the students and asked sharp questions from professional aspects. The atmosphere was warm and the audience burst into applause from time to time.

Professors Commented on the Participants
The result of the Speech Contest will be announced at the Awarding Ceremony on December 5. Let's look forward to the winners!
