Yesterday, Guangdong Technion - Israel Institute of Technology(GTIIT) Education Foundation held the Awarding Ceremony of the Fanghui Scholarship, to support GTIIT's talent cultivation and innovation. Prof. Lin Danming, Pro-Vice Chancellor of GTIIT, Mr. Zhang Yunhui, Chairman of Hunan Chamber of Commerce in Shantou, and representatives of GTIIT staff and students attended the event. Dr. Queena Yi, President of GTIIT Education Foundation and GTIIT Associate Pro Vice Chancellor, presided over the ceremony.
"Fanghui Scholarship" is donated by Mr. Zhang Yunhui and his wife Mrs. Lu Huifang. 17 GTIIT undergraduate students received the award this year.
Prof. Lin Danming expressed his appreciation to Mr. and Mrs. Zhang for their donation on behalf of GTIIT and Chancellor Gong. He said that the scholarship has not only attracted more talented students to study in GTIIT, but also provided the opportunity for the university to better contribute to the society and the industry. GTIIT will live up to the expectations of the society by providing more support to the students and conducting further cooperation with the enterprises.
Mr. Zhang shared his experience of study and work with the attendees. He pointed out that GTIIT is an open campus with inclusiveness, which has opened the door to a wider world for the students. He hoped that students could keep learning and strengthen their abilities, to grow into pillars of the country and the society.
The students expressed their gratitude to Mr. Zhang Yunhui as well as their determination to carry on relentless efforts. “We will strive to make progress, continue to explore the scientific world, and grow into the excellent scientists and engineers of all fields!” said Yao Qianchong, a GTIIT student from the 2022 cohort.
