In order to improve GTers' safety awareness and self-rescue ability, Guangdong Technion - Israel Institute of Technology (GTIIT) takes the fire drill as a "compulsory course" of safety education for freshmen, and teaches them the escape skills to deal with emergencies.

Students learned how to use gas masks and fire extinguishers, as well as how to escape the fire in this drill. When the alarm sounded, the freshmen evacuated to the open space in an orderly manner. They learned how to use the gas mask carefully, and tried on the mask themselves after the demonstration.

A fire source was set up at the site. Professionals introduced the use of fire extinguishers in detail and guided students in practice.

The "fire escape room" stimulated the dark and smoky condition when there was a fire to train students' survival skills. Students bent down to get into the house in groups of five, and escaped from the exit after several minutes in the dark.

Freshmen said that the fire drill made them realize the importance of mastering fire safety knowledge, and they also learned many practical self-rescue skills through practice.
