To enhance the statistical analysis ability of educational data in university, Wei Tianxiang from the Development Planning Division of the Department of Education of Guangdong Province led a team to visit Guangdong Technion – Israel Institute of Technology (GTIIT) to conduct a training on statistics for administrators today.

Prof. Lin Danming, Pro-Vice Chancellor of GTIIT, attended the training. Dr. Queena Yi, Associate Pro Vice Chancellor, presided over the session.

Prof. Lin Danming, Pro-Vice Chancellor of GTIIT, pointed out that as education statistics is one of the core tasks of universities, it is necessary to strengthen communication among all departments of the university and enhance statistical analysis skills. He hoped that everyone would be able to apply what they’d learned to their future work.

Experts from the Development Planning Division of the Department of Education of Guangdong Province, Guangdong Vocational Institute of Public Administration, Shantou University and Guangdong University of Finance and Economics conducted an all-round training for the staff of relevant departments at GTIIT.

The experts mentioned that law-based regulation performed as an important guideline for statistical work, and thus it was critical to ensure data quality and carry out a qualified analysis.

In view of the particularity of Sino-foreign institution, the experts stressed a few caveats that GTIIT should be aware of and elaborated on the key indicators of education statistics. They also demonstrated the operation of relevant systems to the trainers and provided detailed instructions to the trainers.

During the Q & A session, admin staff from GTIIT raised questions about statistical work.
