In the evening of July 11, an unparalleled piano performance was given by Dr. Michael Tsalka, famous Israeli pianist and Early Keyboard performer, with his best wishes to the China-Israel relations and GTIIT graduates of the Class of 2022.
Mr. Peleg Lewi, Consul General of Israel in Guangzhou, and Prof. Gong Xingao, Chancellor of GTIIT and Academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences, attended the event.
"Music, art and science cross all the boundaries, and build a bridge of communication between China and Israel," Mr. Peleg Lewi said in his speech. He also pointed out that Consulate General of Israel in Guangzhou has maintained long-time close cooperation with GTIIT, and the two sides have jointly built a platform for academic and business activities between the two countries.
"I was shocked by the GTIIT campus and development!” Dr. Tsalka said that he was very honored to perform for GTIIT students. He hoped that the GTIIT graduates of the Class of 2022 would keep improving in future.
Dr. Tsalka's performance is deft and expressive. From the warm Clair de lune (Debussy) to the passionate Ritual Dance of Fire (Manuel de Falla), the audience was traveling through the repertoire from the early Baroque era to our days. The silence of the audience, which indicated intense collective concentration, soon turned into applause lasting a long time.
During the break, Mr. Peleg Lewi, on behalf of Consulate General of Israel in Guangzhou presented souvenirs to GTIIT students and gave best wishes to them.
Music connects people, while cultural communication narrows the gap between people. The warm night was unforgettable for all the audience.
