On March 29 and April 1, Prof. Gong Xingao, Chancellor of Guangdong Technion – Israel Institute of Technology (GTIIT) and Academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) led a team to visit Chaoyang Experimental School and Yuhuai High School respectively, and gave a science lecture titled "Sunshine Lights up the 'Double Carbon' Future – from Photoelectric Effect to Solar Cell" for students.

Prof. Gong took "carbon peaking" and "carbon neutrality" as the starting point to illustrate the significance of carbon reduction, which led to the introduction of photoelectric effect and solar cells. He made profound scientific knowledge easy to understand through humorous language, vivid illustrations and interesting examples. The atmosphere of the lecture was enthusiastic.

During the lecture, Prof. Gong asked students about their understanding of concepts such as the greenhouse effect and the application of photoelectric effect. The students competed to answer the questions using the physics knowledge they had learned. Prof. Gong guided students to think through questions, explained the development history of relevant theories and cutting-edge research results in a simple way. He stimulated students' enthusiasm to explore the unknown, and lit up their curiosity for science.

"There are countless scientific and technological innovations that require interdisciplinary collaboration, thus, it is important that scientists from different fields communicate fully. All of you are potential future physicists, chemists and engineers, making contributions in different fields." Prof. Gong encouraged students to broaden their horizons and enrich their knowledge to lay a solid foundation for their future development.

During the Q&A session, students raised their hands and asked Prof. Gong about the content of science and engineering programs, the reason he chose to engage in scientific research, and the ways to overcome difficulties in scientific research.

After the lecture, students came to the stage again to ask questions, appreciating the opportunity to have face-to-face communication with the Academician. Surrounded by eager students, Prof. Gong patiently answered students' questions and was pleased with their passion for study. He encouraged the students to set up lofty aspirations, study hard in scientific knowledge, shoulder the responsibility of the new era, and aspire to become excellent scientific and technological talents.
