On December 25, the 2021 Guangdong-Hunan Educational Forum and Hunan Normal University-Guangdong Alumni Annual Meeting was held online and offline in Guangzhou High School. Experts and scholars from famous universities including Guangdong Technion - Israel Institute of Technology (GTIIT), Hong Kong University, South China University of Technology, South China Normal University and Guangzhou University, as well as headmasters from key high schools in Guangdong and Hunan provinces attended the Forum. They held in-depth discussions about basic education and talent cultivation.

Prof. Gong Xingao, Chancellor of GTIIT and Academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), gave a keynote speech titled “The Talk about Scientific Literacy and Talent Cultivation” in the Forum. He shared his observations on science literacy in China. Chancellor Gong took The Four Great Inventions of ancient China as example to clarify the dialectical relationship between science and technology, pointing out that stimulating curiosity is important to cultivating innovative talents. He further introduced the unique research and innovation system of Israel, and Technion's key role in it. He noted that GTIIT has followed and integrated the tradition of research innovation and resourses, and also inherited the Israeli feature of "interest-driven research" in academic and talent development.

Front-line teachers including Peng Jianping, Principal of Guangzhou High School; Zhang Xianlong, Principal of Guangzhou No.2 High School; and Liu Hong, Principal of Guangzhou No.17 High School shared their views on reshaping teaching concepts and cultivating the spirit of innovation in the context of the new era.
In the following roundtable forum, experts and scholars from universities (South China Normal University, South China University of Technology, etc.) and headmasters of key high schools (Guangzhou Yuyan High school, Guangzhou Zhixin High School, Guangzhou No.1 High School, etc.) exchanged views on how to link basic education with university education.
