There are many foreign teachers in GTIIT. In order to provide an opportunity for better understanding China’s taxation policies, Shantou Taxation Bureau and Jinping District Taxation Bureau recently visited the Guangdong Technion Israel Institute of Technology to hold a bilingual session on individual income tax.
This event was conducted both online and offline. Prof. Lin Danming, Pro-Vice Chancellor of GTIIT, heads of relevant administrative departments and more than 20 foreign teachers of GTIIT attended this session. Meanwhile, Mr Eran Gal-Or, Pro-Vice Chancellor and Director General of GTIIT, and foreign teachers of GTIIT from all over the world also joined to the policy interpretation online.

At the meeting, Ms. Wu Lingmei, Deputy Director of the Shantou Taxation Bureau, led the Shantou "Tax Bilingual Lecturer Group" to clarify issues such as residents, tax liability for individuals without domicile, calculation of income tax for individuals without domicile, and individual income tax concessions for foreigners, etc. The speeches were interpreted in detail to help foreign teachers to better understand China's relevant policies and regulations on foreign personnel's personal income tax, and professionally answer operational questions such as the handling of annual personal income tax calculations.

Prof. Lin Danming said: “The policy explanations made by the Shantou taxation department are very targeted, bringing a lot of convenience to GTIIT and foreign teachers, reflecting a good atmosphere of respecting and motivating talents. With such support, we are confident for giving full play to talents. Gather advantages and accelerate the development of a research university with international influence.”
Mr. Eran Gal-Or believed that the session was rich in content and built a good platform for answering questions, allowing everyone to have a deeper understanding of China's taxation policies. "At present, GTIIT has nearly 100 foreign teachers, and handling individual income tax withholding declarations for them is our focus." said Max Ding, Director of Finance Department of GTIIT. In the future, GTIIT will continue to strengthen cooperation with Shantou Taxation Department to ensure that foreign teachers can better understand tax policies and handle tax-related businesses efficiently.
