On January 16th, 2017, integral hoisting of the steel truss (with a 46-meter span) above the main campus entrance was completed successfully, which is one of the construction difficulties.
Steel structure is adopted for the whole Administrative Building and a part of the Education Building, with the main campus entrance in between. Assembled from 600 steel members, this long-span steel truss weighs around 560 tons with a span of 46 meters and a height of 6 - 8 meters.
According to the construction party, two-tier steel truss of the connective corridor was assembled on the ground and then four lifting points (load-bearing: 200 tons/ point) were set on the top of the truss. Special steel strands were used to connect the points and the hoist, which composed a hydraulic lifting system for integral hoisting. Installation of the lower truss began when the truss was hoisted up to 5 meter, after which the truss continued to be lifted to the planned height.
To guarantee construction quality, the construction party exercised strict control over both the whole and the partial size of the truss and conducted stress-strain & displacement monitoring during assembly and hoisting, as well as estimating its stress states according to real-time data. Ground and low-altitude assembly and welding provided convenience for machine weld and reduce aloft work. The adoption of hydraulic lifting also ensured the security and progress of the construction.
