On August 5- 10, 2016, a team of teachers from the School of Business in Shantou University (STU) attended?the prestigious Academy of Management (AOM) annual meeting in Anaheim, CA, USA. On August 9, the team presented their research results on Taobao Villages and had an in-depth discussion with both domestic and foreign scholars at a seminar titled "Exploring Opportunities for Innovation in Chinese Context".?

In recent years, joint research has been conducted by?Prof. Dennis Lee, Dr. Liang Qiang and Dr. Lin Jlali from STU?together with?Prof. Shlomo Maital and Prof. Miriam Erez from the Technion, with its focus on Taobao Villages in China, which have extensive e-commerce start-ups.

AOM annual meeting is a top academic event in the field of management globally, with a long history, a wide range of disciplines and the largest number of scholar participants. This is the 76th?AOM annual meeting with the theme of Making Organization Meaningful, where the teachers from the School of Business presented a series of joint research results based on the cooperation with the Technion. The researchers took Jieyang Junpu Tao Bao Village as the case to study?extensive e-commerce start-ups in Tao Bao Villages from different theoretical angles. Pro.?Shlomo.Maital from the Technion together with three teachers gave a summary report on the research papers at the meeting, with the theme of "How China Built Market Leadership in E-Commerce". This monographic study was organized by three internationally renowned scholars in the field of management, with Pro.?Miriam Erez (the Technion) & Pro. Dean Tjosvold (HK Lingnan University) leading the participants to have in-depth discussion on entrepreneurship and innovation in China.?
