On the morning of April 13, Vice Governor Lan Fo'an, together with other leaders from the Provincial Office, Education Department, Finance Department and other relevant departments visited Shantou and investigated the construction situation of GTIIT and Shantou University.?
Lan Fo'an said, "The Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial Government think highly of the preparation of GTIIT establishment. All departments need to actively help with GTIIT's formal establishment by following suggestions carefully proposed by the MOE. Communication and cooperation need to be strengthened among the Shantou Municipal Party Committee, the Municipal Government, Shantou University and other relevant provincial departments. Main responsibilities will be carried out and the construction speed of North Campus will be accelerated to ensure the formal establishment in October and project delivery before March 2017. In the process of institution establishment, GTIIT needs to strengthen its team building and establish a strongfaculty and staff team; accelerate the construction of Sino-Israeli (Shantou) Technology Innovation Zone; actively promote production-education-research cooperation; strengthen financial support; speed up the transformation of scientific and technological achievements;integrate the cultivation of students' innovation and entrepreneurialability into institution establishment in order to serve for our strategic provincial development of innovation."
