The Shantou Intellectual Property Association's membership meeting and signing ceremony of the Student Innovation and Entrepreneurship Patent Fund were held at GTIIT on Nov. 28. Former Deputy Director of the Standing Committee of the Municipal People's Congress Liao Wensong, former Vice-chairmen of the Municipal Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference Song Hanjie and Zhang Zehua, and Pro-Vice Chancellor of GTIIT Lin Danming attended the event.
At the ceremony, Dr. Huang Zengyu, Manager of GTIIT Industry Relation Development, signed the "Cooperation Framework Agreement on Student Innovation and Entrepreneurship Patent Project" with the Shantou Intellectual Property Association on behalf of GTIIT, which launched a new pattern of cooperation.
The Fund aims to make innovative and entrepreneurial talents and achievements stand out by enhancing undergraduates' awareness of innovation and intellectual property protection as well as stimulating their creative innovation potential and entrepreneurial spirit.
"We will deepen reforms to fully implement intellectual property strategies, cultivate high-value intellectual property rights, and implement the strictest intellectual property protection system," said Fang Xiaowan, Deputy Director of the Shantou Municipal Administration for Market Regulations. She added, "it is important to develop students’ passion and capability to participate in scientific and technological innovation. We should focus on the cultivation of undergraduate innovation talents and scientific achievements so as to make contribution for the development of our national science and technology."
GTIIT was awarded the Council Unit of the Municipal Intellectual Property Association
During the event, members of the Shantou Intellectual Property Association also visited the Analytical Chemistry Lab and Microbiology Lab. They highly affirmed the advanced lab equipment and expressed their hope to strengthen industry-university-research cooperation with GTIIT.
